ASUS EEE 1000 series
Now featuring a 10" screen, Intel ATOM processor (1.6GHZ) and a 160GB HDD non-solid state.
If you need your SSD fixin, they have a "40GB" model (which is really two SSD drives, one 8GB and one 32GB but effectively a 40GB capactiy anyhow)

The model listed in the links above also has a 6 cell lith-ion battery with a projected battery life of 5-7 hours. (I'd still assume 5 or less, but still that's STELLAR)

So glad i didn't buy one of the earlier models.
for 50 bucks more you upgrade your wireless card from 802.11b/g to a Pre-N class.

sweetness....pure sweetness.

I considered the EEE 1000HE as well but I saw a classmate in college with it and I couldnt stand the aesthetics.

If you need a longer battery life, I recommend buying the 6-cell or going with the 1000HE.
